Overview

Custom starts with the pouch and the strap

A custom jockstrap is defined by three proportions: pouch depth, strap width and rise. Those decide whether the garment reads as athletic, fashion or novelty, and they are pattern decisions rather than fabric decisions.

We develop the pattern from your reference, sample it in stock fabric to test proportion quickly, then sample again in the final fabric and elastic once the fit is agreed. Two fit revisions are included.

FAQ

Custom jockstrap questions

What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ)?

Our standard MOQ is 300–1,000 pieces per style, mixed sizes. Styles using stock fabric can start from 300 pieces; a fully custom knit or dye lot usually starts at 1,000 pieces per colour. Tell us your target quantity and we will confirm what is achievable.

How long does sampling take?

A development sample takes 5–7 working days after artwork and fabric are confirmed. A full size set takes 10–12 working days. Sample cost is credited against the bulk order.

What is the lead time for bulk production?

Bulk production runs 15–45 days from deposit and approved pre-production sample, depending on quantity, fabric availability and trim lead times. We confirm the schedule in writing before you pay the deposit.

Which payment terms do you accept?

T/T (30% deposit, 70% against the copy of the bill of lading), L/C at sight, and PayPal for samples. Terms are confirmed in the proforma invoice.

Can you handle fabric, labels and packaging as well?

Yes. Fabric knitting, dyeing, cutting, sewing, printing, embroidery, labels, hangtags and retail packaging all sit inside our own supply chain, so a single purchase order covers the finished, retail-ready product.

How do you control quality?

Every order passes an incoming fabric inspection, an in-line check at 30% and 70% of the run, a final AQL 2.5 inspection before packing, and a shipment check against the approved sample and packing list.

How many samples will it take?

Two in most cases: a proportion sample in stock fabric to settle the pattern, then a bulk-fabric sample to confirm the final hand, elastic and colour. Programmes that need a third round usually have changes across several areas at once rather than one.

Why jockstraps are developed rather than pattern-matched

Most garments can be graded from a block. A jockstrap cannot, because its proportions are not derived from body measurements — they are a design decision. Two garments that fit the same wearer identically can look completely different based on pouch depth and strap width.

Sample in stock fabric first

Proportion is independent of fabric, so the first sample uses a stock knit. That shortens the development cycle by a week and keeps the cost of a pattern revision low. Once the proportion is agreed, we re-sample in the final fabric, elastic and colour.

Elastic specification travels with the sample

The waistband and leg straps are the functional part of the garment, and their behaviour varies between suppliers even at the same nominal width. We send the elastic specification with the sample so the approval covers the actual component that will be used in bulk.

Photographing for approval

Distance selling makes photography part of the product. We photograph each sample flat and on a form under neutral light, which gives you an accurate record for comparison and a usable asset for the listing.
