Overview

Crewneck sweatshirt: weight and finish decide everything

At 280–400 gsm in French terry, cotton-rich, this is a substantial garment. The weight is what customers feel first, and it is what determines how the sweatshirt drapes, how it ages and how it is priced.

Enzyme wash for a softer hand, or garment dye for depth of colour, and the fit is available in regular, relaxed and boxy. Typical construction includes V-insert at the neck, ribbed cuffs and hem, optional side panels, and the programme suits lifestyle and basics ranges.

FAQ

crewneck sweatshirt questions

What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ)?

Our standard MOQ is 300–1,000 pieces per style, mixed sizes. Styles using stock fabric can start from 300 pieces; a fully custom knit or dye lot usually starts at 1,000 pieces per colour. Tell us your target quantity and we will confirm what is achievable.

How long does sampling take?

A development sample takes 5–7 working days after artwork and fabric are confirmed. A full size set takes 10–12 working days. Sample cost is credited against the bulk order.

What is the lead time for bulk production?

Bulk production runs 15–45 days from deposit and approved pre-production sample, depending on quantity, fabric availability and trim lead times. We confirm the schedule in writing before you pay the deposit.

Which payment terms do you accept?

T/T (30% deposit, 70% against the copy of the bill of lading), L/C at sight, and PayPal for samples. Terms are confirmed in the proforma invoice.

Can you handle fabric, labels and packaging as well?

Yes. Fabric knitting, dyeing, cutting, sewing, printing, embroidery, labels, hangtags and retail packaging all sit inside our own supply chain, so a single purchase order covers the finished, retail-ready product.

How do you control quality?

Every order passes an incoming fabric inspection, an in-line check at 30% and 70% of the run, a final AQL 2.5 inspection before packing, and a shipment check against the approved sample and packing list.

Is 280–400 gsm too heavy or too light?

That depends on the market. 280–400 gsm suits lifestyle and basics ranges. If you are unsure, we can sample the same block at two weights so you can compare the hand and the price together before committing.

How does the wash affect sizing?

Any post-making wash shrinks and softens the garment. Enzyme wash for a softer hand, or garment dye for depth of colour. We cut oversized by the measured wash allowance and confirm the finished dimensions on the washed sample.

Crewneck sweatshirt: the production decisions that matter

Fleece is judged on three things: weight, hand and shape retention. Weight is specified in grams per square metre and is the single biggest driver of cost. Hand comes from the fabric’s finish and, where a garment is washed after making up, from the wash itself. Shape retention depends on trims and construction.

French terry, cotton-rich at 280–400 gsm gives a garment that sits close to the body without collapsing. That is a weight decision before it is a design decision.

Construction detail

V-insert at the neck, ribbed cuffs and hem, optional side panels. Production note: the V-insert at the front neck is the tell of a proper sweatshirt — without it the neckline distorts as the garment is pulled on.

Wash and finish

Enzyme wash for a softer hand, or garment dye for depth of colour. Washing after making up is what gives a garment its character, and it also moves every measurement. We cut oversized by the measured allowance, then confirm finished dimensions on the washed sample rather than assuming a percentage.

Where it sells

This programme suits lifestyle and basics ranges. Because the block and specification are locked after the first order, a reorder runs two to three weeks faster than the original and matches it in weight, shade and hand.
